How pricing works

We do not price from a photo. Here is what the number depends on, in the order people ask.

  • What decides the price

Mostly how much ground we work on and how hard it is to reach. Two yards the same size can land far apart.

    • Square feet of beds, and how much is new planting

    • Access: slope, stairs, a lanai above street level, an elevator, how far the truck gets

    • The plant sizes and whether they are native or nursery stock

    • Irrigation: new lines or what is there

    • Hauling green waste, and any permit a tree may need

  • What the estimate includes, and what it does not

A written scope you can read line by line.

    • Included: measurements, the plant list with sizes, soil and mulch, irrigation changes, haul-off and cleanup

    • Not included: county permits or association fees unless the estimate lists them

    • Not included: work on a tree protected under city rules until the permit is in hand

  • What happens at the walk-through

Someone from the crew walks the lot with you. We measure, photograph, mark spray, wind and shade, and find the shut-offs. Ask when you book whether the visit has a fee and whether it is credited to the work.

  • When you get the number

In writing, after the walk-through and before any work starts. The estimate holds a start window and a finish window.

  • How and when you pay

A deposit schedules the job, stage payments follow the work, and the balance is due when we have walked the finished garden together. Ask which payment methods we take.

  • Materials and who buys them

We choose and buy plants, soil and mulch. If you want a particular plant, say so at the walk-through and we will say whether it suits the spot.

Cost questions

How much does a garden cost?

It depends on the size of the area, the access, the plants and what has to come out first. We give you a number in writing after a walk-through, and the pricing page lists what moves it.

How do I pay?

A deposit puts the job on the calendar, payments follow the stages in the estimate, and the balance is due when we have walked the finished work together. Ask which payment methods we take.
